Oh right we do have a blog.

But having survived our seventh Kaisen we will try and keep the blog (more or less) updated.

Five minutes later, we were pulling up beside Artemis, where Lt. Medina was up in a crane, already hurrying to put everything back inside. “Hurry up, Terry! We got now less than forty minutes!” I urged her.

“We need a plan!” Said Hausser.

After landing, we scrambled all our vehicles leaving only four skeleton crews and G-Tanks on guard, while I positioned Artemis in a kneeling position from which Medina and her crew could access her Avionics and get me out of the cockpit.

I figured I had a few hours to kill while Medina worked on Artemis, so I took a Runaround Jeep with Lt. Hausser and did a quick recon of our camp grounds; Six more Coffins had been deployed along with a Portable Firebase. Its generator was already erected and the Coffins were being broken down into defensive barricades. Seven other modular components to the Firebase served to create a Defense Base. With nothing to do, imagination usually works overtime, debilitating Servicemen and Women with the stress and anticipation of the encounter. As most of us are tightly packed into out Transports, little can be done in the interim but check the equipment a hundred times and try to engage the person next to you in conversation, which usually revolves about the upcoming mission. In my case, the person next to me is usually Lt. Kaspar Hausser, as his cybernetics allow him to access most G.U.A.R.D. equipment and operating systems, including Artie’s.

As Artemis was prepped, the men brought the Travel Harness used to secure her to the Kintaro VTOL transport used to boost her flight range. At seventy five meters and a wingspan of two hundred, the Kintaro is the biggest thing ever flown by Man, and is little more than a set of wings, engines and fuel strapped to a Mech’s back for long range deployment. While Artemis was loaded up the service tunnel elevator, which would raise her up the hatch over which the Kintaro was parked, I finally got my Unit’s orders from Br. Col. Chaney Himself. Until that moment, I had never directly been under orders from Chaney, but word amongst Operators was that he was something of a martinet who liked to micromanage his Operators to the last detail. Not that he wasn’t an excellent commander, only that he didn’t work well with Operators.
